Sue Fitzpatrick
Background
My interest in Volleyball started back in the 1970s playing CYO Volleyball at St. Philip Neri School in Lafayette Hill. I then went onto play 4 years of Volleyball at Whitemarsh Jr. High School and Plymouth Whitemarsh High School. I have played pick up volleyball here and there since high school.
Coaching Experience
I have been Coaching Elementary and Middle School level Volleyball since 2005 for the CYO Program. From 2005 - 2017, I was Coaching and administering the CYO Program at St. Philip Neri (SPN) in Lafayette Hill. Then, with my daughter going to school at St. Helena's School in Blue Bell, I started Coaching CYO Volleyball at St. Helena's in 2018 and have been involved in coaching there at the JV and Varsity level since. In 2019, I joined the Coaching Staff at TNT, coaching the 12s, 13s and 14s over the past 3 years. In 2022, I also joined the staff at Whitemarsh High School coaching their JV Volleyball Team.
Certifications
I am current with all my clearance certifications for safe environment coaching of young ladies.
Coaching Philosophy
Many people coach for various reasons, but my true joy has always been watching the light bulb come on to a young lady who is developing her volleyball skill set. Seeing so many young ladies, years later, playing competitive volleyball, has always been a happy place for me. I love to reflect on their beginning volleyball journey, when they fell in love with the game.
Fun Fact
Everyone always draws to height when it comes to volleyball, but truth be told, one of the shortest girls that I coached CYO volleyball in 5th/6th grade, who could walk under the net without ducking, went on to play college volleyball. "Always follow your dreams, work hard and don't listen to people who tell you that you don't fit the player mold! So many well known athletes were told early on that they would never be successful."
