Coaching Experience
Melanie has coached NCAA DI and DII Women, club boys, girls and college men, as well as high school boys and girls volleyball.
While playing DI at Drexel University, she coached girls 14U club and the Drexel Men’s club team.
Straight out of college, she became the first full-time Head Coach at West Chester University where she won Conference Coach of the Year in her first season.
She then went on to NCAA DI coaching to be the Women’s Assistant Coach at Boise State University for a season before landing the Drexel University Head Coaching position. She also held assistant coaching positions at the University of Pennsylvania and LaSalle University.
After coaching other area boys club teams at the National level, she joined TNT in 2022, coaching the TNT 18 Red team. She is also currently serving as the girls and boys assistant coach at Haverford High School (2017-present).
Coaching PhilosophyI coach to share my love of volleyball. I am a player, teacher, and student of the game. Although I consider myself a technical coach, I embrace coaching the strategic and mental aspects of the game. A.C.E. (Attitude, Communication, and Effort) are my guiding principles for success.

Playing ExperienceI have been playing volleyball since I was 12 and still play today. I starting playing club volleyball in the inaugural season of UNO VBC in the Chicago area. I came to the east coast to play for Drexel University where I was an all-conference player and 3-time NCAA DI Academic All-American before finishing my career with over 5,000 career assists. After college, I competed at the semi-pro level in beach and grass doubles for 20 years. I still play today indoor and outdoor nationally at the age group level.
My favorite coaching memory is a bus ride home. After losing a key starter to injury, we pulled off a reverse sweep on the road versus our high school league rivals and celebrated the whole way home!

Fun Fact - I played varsity badminton in high school in the Chicago suburbs. They still have a team today.
