Coaching Philosophy
Learn the whole game. Be a complete player and student of the game. You can play volleyball for decades to come. Don't limit yourself to a position. Know everything about what is happening on the court. As in life, don't have tunnel vision. See the big picture. Volleyball is a game. It can teach you to be a good teammate, a good student, a hard worker, to be cooperative, punctual and how to accept victory and defeat. But... it's just a game.

Playing Experience
In high school, I played soccer and basketball. I didn't pick up volleyball until I was 18. I didn't stop playing competitively until I was in my 50s, reflecting about 35 years of playing while also coaching. Best Coaching Memory
At the end of coaching a brand new high school program, the entire team signed a shirt for me that is still hanging in my house. One young man's quote is the reason it's still there. He didn't play a lot and I frequently put him in cold, in very tense and important matches. He never let me down. He wrote: "You made me believe in myself." He was a fantastic high school student, went on to college, then medical school and became a successful doctor. He made me believe that I could make a difference in people's lives. Thanks Hari!
Favorite Quote(s) - Can't pick one!! Here are 3 good ones...
1) "Waste no more time arguing what a good man should be. Be one." Marcus Aurelius
2) "If it is not right, do not do it. If it is not true, do not say it" Marcus Aurelius
3) "Behind every great man is a woman rolling her eyes." Jim Carrey
Favorite Movie - That's a tough question for me - I'm a movie junkie. I always say "It's a Wonderful Life," but the truth is there are just too many to choose from.
Fun Facts - I've always been into science fiction. I collected comic books as a kid and still have about a thousand in mint condition. I read and listen to a wide range of science fiction books and I watch all of the Marvel, DC Universe and Star Wars shows and movies. I had an open invitation to play with the Men's Olympic Team Handball Team.
When I'm Not Coaching, I'm ... Thinking about coaching, studying coaching, watching coaching videos, talking to my family about coaching... I like hanging out with my awesome wife and our three sons. I enjoy watching (too much) TV, taking my dogs on long hikes and reading. I also own and operate a small business - Precision Dent Removal.
